Singapore Do Not Call Registry

It is finally here - the Singapore Do Not Call (DNC) Registry @ http://www.dnc.gov.sg

If you have not registered your number with the registry, you might want to do it now to cut down cold calls from the telemarketers. There is a 60-day grace period though, meaning you may still receive marketing calls or messages within the 60 days after you have your number registered.

The DNC registry is aimed at preventing unsolicited communication from marketers, including phone calls, SMS messages, facsimile (fax), and messages transmitted through smart phone applications such as WhatsApp.

At this point of time there is no clear answer to how the authority is going to handle violation cases, however we do hope that it will not be another household decoration like the existing Spam Act.
